I got dragged out of the house by my friend yesterday to go see it. At first I wasn't all that thrilled to see it because I figured since I had no prior knowledge of the series, except for a few pop culture references here and there on other tv shows, I wouldn't be able to keep up with the movie. Though I would have to say that when the movie was over, I was actually really impressed. The plot makes it easy for new fans to be drawn into the series, and old ones to enjoy a new spin off of their beloved show. I pretty much understood everything about what was going on in the film and who the characters were, but I'm wondering if there were any small jokes or easter eggs in there that refered to any of the earlier series. Could anyone who's familiar enough with the series tell me if there was?

Well, I had pretty much the same Trek experience,, most of what I knew coming from Futurama, a few episodes of Next Generation, and How William Shatner Changed the Universe and all those other History channel Star Trek documentaries, but there were apparently a ton of easter eggs in the movie. Apparently the name of the Captain test that Kirk cheated on was a reference to something, but I don't know what...
