Artist's Comments

Yet another in my series of SSBB character concepts. Jumping out of a Poke Ball and onto the battle field this time around is: Meowth! Pokemon number 52 from Pokemon: Red and Blue!(..and several other games.) I chose Meowth because it's quite popular with many hardcore and casual Poke Maniacs. It's popularity is due to it's cute cat-like charms, and, let's be honest, it's role in the Pokemon cartoon. "MEEEEOWTH! That's right!"

Meowth is a quick and nimble character, running fast and jumping high. I imagine it would play alot like Fox, who is also a fast character. It unleashes many of the attacks it has learned over the course of the Pokemon series, and can be a tough customer. Even Bowser would have to cower when faced with those claws!

Faint Attack? That's a little funky XD

Thank you! Yeah, I admit Faint Attack WAS stretching it, but Meowth doesn't really have any heavy hitting attacks, and it DOES learn that move at level 25.

Hmm... Could you maybe do something from Diamond/Pearl? There is Weavile's Shadow Claw, and I'm sure Meowth/Persian will learn THAT :p

Yeah, I was hesitant about going near Diamond and Pearl beacuse so little is know about it. No one is even sure if it will be out before Brawl, though it most likely is, but it will probably be too close to it for it has a real impact on the Nintendo Universe. But that is a very good idea...hmm...dare I edit...?

Hm. I was hoping for more of the talking Meowth varriety. And that Meowth can't use Pay-Day. However, I have seen him use a sonic cannon before... The fact is that he lacks in physical strengnth he makes up for in brains.

Well, talking Meowth is more in the relm of the show, rather than the games. And true, Meowth owes it's popularity to the show, but so does Pikachu, in truth. And true again, talking Meowth WAS in Pokemon Channel...but that doesn't count as a game. lolz
